Heart Space 3: Inside In
Inside In explores the discomfort found in publicly displaying emotional or physical turmoil in defiance of the American ideals of happiness, progress, and productivity. This piece begins to explore ideas of radical vulnerability as an act of anti-capitalism, while also considering the necessity of privacy and protection to promote healing.
Heart Space 1, 2, 3 and 4 track my reactions, internally and externally to trauma over time. Each piece deals with a specific traumatic event and was created shortly after as a way to communicate a need for either self-punishment as in the piece "Penance"; self-soothing as in the piece "Comfort"; self-preservation as in the piece "Inside In"; or safety in withdraw as in the piece "Dissociative Lite."
